West Avia is strengthening its innovation and development network through new partnerships. VTT, Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SeAMK) and Artificer Group have signed innovation partnership agreements with West Avia. The partnerships aim to accelerate the development of new technologies, services and operating models, while creating new opportunities for joint pilots and projects.
The innovation partnership model brings together West Avia’s operating environment and the expertise of companies, research organisations and higher education institutions. The collaboration may include joint development and innovation projects, pilots and trials carried out in the test environment, the exchange of expertise and knowledge, as well as new joint customer opportunities.
“We want to build West Avia into an environment where the expertise of businesses, research organisations and educational institutions comes together, and where new solutions can quickly move from ideas to practical trials. Innovation partners play a very important role in making this happen,” says Joonas Soini from West Avia.
From Partnerships to Practical Trials
West Avia aims to provide its partners with an environment where new technologies and solutions can be developed, tested and piloted in collaboration with other organisations. The ecosystem being developed in the Seinäjoki and Ilmajoki area offers opportunities particularly in aviation, unmanned aviation, autonomous systems, digitalisation and other emerging technologies.
VTT brings strong research and technology expertise to the network, SeAMK contributes expertise in research, development and education, while Artificer Group brings a business and technology perspective. Bringing together different types of organisations within the same network also creates opportunities for entirely new forms of collaboration.
The innovation partnership agreement provides a framework for cooperation. Specific pilots, development projects and other forms of collaboration will always be agreed separately between the partners.
West Avia Seeks More Innovation Partners
The partnerships with VTT, SeAMK and Artificer Group are part of West Avia’s efforts to build a broader innovation network. West Avia is looking to welcome more companies, research and educational organisations, and other partners interested in developing and testing new solutions.
Partners can join the network with, for example, a new technology, a development idea or a solution that requires piloting. The partnership can also create opportunities to find new collaboration partners, participate in research and development projects, and explore new business opportunities.
“We don’t want to build just a test environment, but an active community around it. We are looking for partners who are eager to experiment, develop and collaborate. If a company or organisation has an idea that could benefit from West Avia’s environment or network, we encourage them to get in touch,” says Elisabet Kivimäki from West Avia.
