West Avia introduced the Seinäjoki Airport development environment at one of Europe’s leading autonomous technology events in Düsseldorf, Germany.

West Avia participated in XPONENTIAL Europe 2026 in Düsseldorf, Germany, strengthening international networks and presenting the Seinäjoki Airport area as a developing real-world environment for autonomous aviation, drone technologies, and future mobility solutions.

XPONENTIAL Europe is one of the most significant European events focused on autonomous systems, robotics, artificial intelligence, drone technologies, and next-generation transport solutions. The event brought together technology companies, aviation professionals, research organizations, public authorities, and innovation ecosystems from across Europe to discuss the future of autonomous operations and intelligent mobility.

Throughout the three-day event, West Avia engaged with companies, innovation partners, and industry experts working in autonomous aviation and drone technologies. The discussions focused particularly on the growing need for operational testing environments where future technologies can be safely validated and developed in real-world conditions.

Growing interest in real-world testing environments

At the event, West Avia highlighted the opportunities offered by the Seinäjoki Airport development environment for companies developing future autonomous technologies and aviation solutions.

West Avia combines operational airport infrastructure with flexible testing possibilities, enabling companies to move from concept development into practical operational validation. The airport environment supports testing and piloting activities related to autonomous aviation, drone logistics, smart mobility, and integrated autonomous systems.

Particular interest during the event focused on:

  • BVLOS operations
  • Drone logistics solutions
  • Autonomous transport systems
  • UAV testing and validation
  • Smart mobility technologies
  • Integration of aerial and ground-based autonomous systems

Several discussions emphasized the increasing importance of environments where technologies can be tested outside laboratory conditions and integrated into realistic operational ecosystems.

West Avia’s development model attracted attention because it combines aviation infrastructure, industrial surroundings, logistics connections, and innovation-focused collaboration into a single operational environment. The ability to support research, piloting, operational testing, and future business development within the same ecosystem was seen as an important advantage in the rapidly evolving autonomous aviation sector.

International discussions and collaboration opportunities

The first day of XPONENTIAL Europe 2026 focused strongly on networking and future collaboration opportunities. West Avia representatives held discussions with professionals and organizations working in autonomous systems, drone technologies, and future aviation solutions, including high level speakers Munish Khurana, Michael Wieland, Daan D., Jukka Savo, and Amit Ganjoo.

The conversations explored future operational needs, innovation trends, and collaboration opportunities connected to autonomous aviation development and testing activities. The discussions also reinforced the importance of international cooperation in accelerating innovation and enabling future autonomous operations.

The second day generated particularly strong interest in West Avia’s testing environment from companies looking for practical development platforms within Europe. Discussions focused on operational testing opportunities, drone logistics, commercial UAV development, and future autonomous transport solutions.

West Avia also held valuable discussions with several drone industry companies regarding future cooperation opportunities and potential collaborative projects connected to drone logistics and autonomous aviation.

The increasing demand for scalable operational testing environments remained one of the strongest themes throughout the event.

Focus on scaling autonomous technologies into practical operations

This is where West Avia plays a key role.

The final day of XPONENTIAL Europe 2026 focused heavily on the future integration of robotics, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems into practical operational environments.

Sessions such as “The Human Factor: Robotics, AI and Integration” and “From Pilot to Scale: Building the Future of Autonomous Transport with Drones” aligned closely with West Avia’s strategic development goals and long-term vision.

The discussions highlighted that the future success of autonomous aviation depends not only on technological development but also on operational testing, infrastructure readiness, industry collaboration, and the ability to scale innovations into practical use.

These themes strongly support the development direction of West Avia as a real-world innovation environment for future aviation technologies and autonomous mobility solutions.

Additional discussions with companies continued conversations around future collaboration opportunities connected to autonomous aviation development and smart mobility systems. It was also a pleasure to reconnect with an old friend of West Avia, François Castel and exchange perspectives on ongoing developments within the European drone and aviation sector.

“The future success of autonomous aviation depends not only on technological development but also on operational testing, infrastructure readiness, industry collaboration, and the ability to scale innovations into practical use.”

Strengthening West Avia’s international position

XPONENTIAL Europe 2026 demonstrated clearly that autonomous aviation and intelligent mobility solutions are advancing rapidly across Europe. Companies and organizations are increasingly searching for operational environments where technologies can be safely tested, validated, and scaled into practical applications.

The event strengthened West Avia’s position as a developing innovation ecosystem capable of supporting future autonomous aviation projects through operational infrastructure, real-world testing opportunities, and collaborative development.

The discussions and connections established during XPONENTIAL Europe 2026 created a strong foundation for future cooperation, pilot projects, and international partnerships.
